What is the Shiawassee Bid Opportunities Board? 

Local businesses and public bodies spend millions of dollars every year making purchases related to their operations. These purchases may be as routine as letterhead and business cards, while others may be larger purchases such as maintenance contracts, computers or even fleet vehicles. The Shiawassee Bid Opportunities Board (Bid Opportunities Board) is designed by the Shiawassee Regional Chamber of Commerce to be a central online source for businesses and public bodies to post requests for bids on the various goods and services they need and allow local businesses the opportunity to compete for them. 

How does it work?

Businesses and public bodies can log on to the Bid Opportunities Board. Each post is reviewed by our webmaster prior to “going live” to ensure legitimacy. Posts will become active within the same business day.  

Who can post bid requests? 

Any business or public body in Shiawassee County may post bid requests. This service is not restricted to Shiawassee Regional Chamber of Commerce members. However, as a benefit to our members, we will be notifying those member businesses who may be interested in submitting a bid to relevant posts. 

What can I post bid requests for?  

The Bid Opportunities Board may be used to post requests for bids for virtually any good or service your business or public body uses. Here are some examples: 

  • Catering
  • Computer purchases
  • Employment services
  • General Contractors/Construction
  • Grounds/Maintenance contracts
  • Insurance
  • Office supplies/furniture
  • Printing
  • Professional services

How does this benefit my company? 

The Bid Opportunities Board is an excellent opportunity for purchasers to get a large number of potential suppliers to respond to their requests, thereby creating more competition and better prices. For local businesses, it gives them information on potential local customers they may not have ever had the opportunity to get to. The Bid Opportunities Board does not supplant a public body’s legal responsibility to publicly post certain bids.  

Who can see my bid request? 

In an effort to get your bid request in the hands of as many businesses as possible, there will be no restrictions as to who can see your request for bid. Also by posting your bid to shiawasseechamber.org, your company or governmental unit can benefit from the over 1.8 million page views a year the website already generates.
